Fans Treated Right On Their Night!

Monticello, Arkansas--October 1, 2011.

It was Fan Appreciation Night at Drew County Speedway. The weather was nice and cool for the evening’s festivities and the crowd was treated to nine exciting feature races. The night marked the return to the track of the winged mini-sprint cars, a fan favorite.

In addition to the races, the fans got a chance to walk on the track and get autographs and take pictures with their favorite drivers during intermission. The speedway also honored it’s track champions during this time with the awarding of their trophies. Each race, drivers accumulate points based upon their finishing position and the driver with the most points at the end of the season  is crowned track champion.

This year’s winners are:

Stinger Class – Jeremy Tucker – Wilmar, AR

Super Street Class – Brandon Lloyd – Fountain Hill, AR

Outlaw Street Stock Class – Ronnie Via – Pine Bluff, AR

Open Modifieds Class – Richard Anders – El Dorado, AR

Southern Sport Modified Class – Josh Reed – Rison, AR

NeSmith Late Model Class – Cody Kierre – Beebe, AR

Rookie of the Year Award – Will Ramsey – Smackover, AR

Long Haul Award – Jamie Wright – Kaufman, TX (Drives 365 miles to the track)

Waylon Ball of El Dorado just returned to the United States Friday from a work stint in Africa and drove his car to victory in the Southern Sport Mod class. The Sports Mods had the large crowd on their feet with some of the most competitive racing of the night. Many cars were in battles behind Ball for finishing position. Todd Abbott, Will Ramsey, Bennie Ryburn and Tim Curry made up the top five. The Sport Mods have a big night coming up at the season ending 'Spook Nite' on October 15th. Southern Sport Mods will be having  twin-25 lap features with each win paying $750 to win. One driver can go home with as much as $1500 while at least 30 can go home with a minimum of $100 -- the start money for each feature. There will not be an entry fee.

Drew County Speedway will host the final race of the season on Saturday night, October 15^th  with Spook Nite. In addition to the AM Racing Store Twin 25s for the Sport Mods, Open Wheel Modifieds will race 25 laps for $750 to win and Factory Stock/Cruisers and Stingers will each have 30-lap features paying $500 to win!

Open Mod Rules Now Changed to USMTS Rules

With the following exceptions!

-- All cars maximum spoiler height 6 inches.

-- All cars must weigh a minimum of 2400 pounds with driver after race regardless of motor used. Must add 50lbs in front of the mid-plate if using aluminum Heads

-- NO aluminum blocks. Cars using aluminum heads must add 50 pounds of weight in front of mid-plate.

-- American Racer KK704 or Hoosier G60 (stamped or unstamped) tires only.
